Using a face wash is an essential part of your daily routine. Washing your face may seem like a mundane task, but doing it incorrectly can undermine your efforts and stop you from getting the best results. Whether you have dry skin or oily skin, you should wash your face daily. If you have acne, it is even more important to use a face wash daily. And you should never use body soap (bar soap) to wash your face. Try a men's skin care kit if you're having trouble finding the right face wash for your skin.
Below are some instructions to help you use our face wash product properly and enjoy clean, youthful skin every day.
Step 1: Understand Basic Face Washing Recommendations
In general, you should wash your face twice a day, even if you don't see any visible dirt on your skin when you look in the mirror. Oils build up on your face continuously, and they need to be removed to prevent clogged pores and other problems. We recommend washing your face in the morning before you begin your day and at night before you go to bed. To prevent dryness and irritation, you should not wash your face more than twice in one day.
Step 2: Wash Your Hands
You're going to use your hands to wash your face, right? If your hands are dirty when you begin this process, you will be rubbing this dirt directly into the skin on your face, which can lead to unwanted consequences. Before you begin washing your face, wash your hands thoroughly with a mild soap to remove dirt and other residue.
Step 3: Wet Your Face with Warm Water
Before applying any face wash, wet your face with warm water. This water should not be hot, as hot water may damage the skin. Instead, make sure the water you use is comfortably warm. Wet your entire face before moving on to the next step.
Step 4: Dispense the Face Wash
Dispense a small amount of face wash into the palm of your hand. The amount of cleanser you dispense should be approximately the size of a nickel. Using less cleanser won't get your face clean, while using more cleanser will end up being a waste of product. A little amount goes a long way, dispensing more than the recommended amount won't provide you with any additional benefits.
TRY MEN’S SKIN CAREStep 5: Spread
Before you apply the cleanser to your face, rub your hands together. While some low-quality face washes will create a foam, Tiege Hanley’s daily face wash will not bubble up—because we don’t use the harmful chemicals that make products bubble. Spreading the product across your hands will improve the effectiveness of the cleanser, allowing it to cover more areas of your face.
Step 6: Apply the Cleanser
Apply the product to your face, forehead (and under your chin) using gentle circular motions. Don’t pull and push the skin. As you apply the cleanser, be careful to avoid getting any of the product in your eyes. Resist the temptation to use any aid, such as a sponge or washcloth to apply the cleanser. Using these materials can irritate your skin. Slow and steady does the trick.
Step 7: Rinse Your Face
After you have rubbed the cleanser into your skin and cleansed your face thoroughly, rinse your face with warm water. This water should be similar in temperature to the water you used when you wet your face before applying the cleanser. As a reminder, don't use water that is too hot, as this can act as an irritant. Make sure to rinse the areas around your eyes carefully as some of the natural ingredients could irritate the eyes if not rinsed properly.
Step 8: Dry Your Face
If you are not planning to exfoliate your face, you can dry your face after you have rinsed it. To dry your face, simply pat your skin lightly with a clean, soft towel. If you have acne, do not rub your skin with a towel, as doing so can irritate the skin.
Take the skin care quizStep 9: Apply Moisturizer
After you have finished washing and drying your face, it's always a good idea to apply an appropriate moisturizer. If you need to use anti aging cream or eye cream, please do so before applying the moisturizer. We recommend applying our Morning Facial Moisturizer when you wash your face at the start of the day and our Bedtime Facial Moisturizer when you wash your face in the evening. As you apply your moisturizer, be gentle and avoid pulling at your skin. You should also avoid getting moisturizer in your eyes.
Regardless of the products you use, the basic steps you should follow when washing your face remain virtually the same. However, it is important to note that not all facial cleansers are created equally, and so the products you choose will affect your results. Tiege Hanley offers a comprehensive line of skin care products designed specifically to work together to meet the needs of men.
