Using Face Scrub & Wash Properly
Tiege Hanley presents this 7-step guide for men on using an exfoliating facial scrub to help remove dead skin, reduce the risk of clogged pores, acne and other problems—leaving your face feeling fresh and looking youthful.
Using an exfoliating scrub on a regular basis offers a number of benefits. It will remove dead skin, leaving your skin looking fresh and youthful. Removing dead skin cells also reduces the risk of clogged pores, acne and other problems. While it’s important for men with oily skin to use a facial scrub, men with dry skin types should also use it regularly to remove the dead skin. If you have very sensitive skin, you should start by going to a dermatologist.
In order to get the most out of your exfoliating facial scrub, you need to know how to use it properly. Below are some basic instructions to help you use Tiege Hanley’s SCRUB. Do this two times a week.
1. Know When to Apply
In general, you should exfoliate your face only twice per week. For best results, exfoliate after you've used a face wash and rinsed thoroughly with warm water. You can use a daily facial cleanser which is appropriate for both morning and nighttime face washing. This product removes all of the dirt, grime and excess oil from your skin to prepare it for exfoliation. (Life Hack: You can use Tiege Hanley's WASH and SCRUB in the shower.)
2. Dispense the Proper Amount
With your face thoroughly rinsed and still wet, dispense a nickel-sized amount of exfoliating scrub into the palm of your hand. Be sure to use no more than this amount as our products are concentrated and go a long way.
3. Spread Evenly Over Hands
Before applying the product to your face, rub both hands together gently to spread the scrub to your other hand. This allows for a more even application.
4. Apply Gently to Face
After you have spread the facial scrub in your hands, apply it to your face. Gently massage the scrub into your skin in a circular motion for approximately five to 10 seconds. Do not stretch or pull your skin during application. Do not press hard when you use facial scrub. The scrub can irritate the eyes, so avoid this area when you apply the product to your face. You can also use this product on your neck and under your chin. If you have a beard, you may need to extend the circular rubbing motion another five to 10 seconds to make sure enough product makes contact with your skin.
5. Rinse Thoroughly
Once the application is complete, you will need to rinse your face thoroughly. Use lukewarm water and be sure to remove all of the scrub. Water that is too hot may irritate your skin, so make sure the water you use is a comfortable temperature.
6. Dry Gently
After your face is rinsed and completely free of product, gently pat it dry with a clean, soft towel. Resist the urge to rub your face with the towel, as this may lead to irritation. If you have acne, instead of rubbing your face with a towel, try to pat down your face with the dry sections of your towel. This method will reduce irritation.
7. Apply a Moisturizer
After your face is dry, apply a moisturizer to keep it well hydrated. At Tiege Hanley, we recommend using moisturizers specially formulated for a man's skin. We offer two moisturizers: Morning Facial Moisturizer and Bedtime Facial Moisturizer. These moisturizers are safe and well-suited for everyday use.
